“If it were his intention and he withdrew his spirit and breath, all humanity would perish together and mankind would return to the dust.
“How great is God—- beyond our understanding!”
Communication in today’s world is a driving force for new technologies. I can remember when we did not have the internet or cell phones. If you wanted to listen to music, your choices were 8 track players or records. Fast food was a new thing. Most people cooked every meal at home. Now we are looking at self driving cars and automated machines that send our order to the kitchens of restaurants by simply touching a screen. More conversation has been made over what someone said on twitter, Instagram or Facebook than face to face.
If we are not careful we will begin to lose God and forget what He really is. Elihu continues his message to Job and says some profound truths we just might want to hear again. If you want to watch a world go insane today just break the internet and cell phone towers and you will see mass hysteria.
Behind all this is God. Yes, He did not take a vacation and go play God golf while this world wallows into chaos. Today, understand what Elihu stated to Job, this world is being held together because God holds it together. When you look out and see chaos and you start to think “where is God?” understand that God is behind it all.
Elihu states “how great is God — beyond our understanding!” There are some things in this life we will not understand, but God does. If you have submitted your life to Him, then you see what Isaiah saw when he said “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. (Isaiah 26:3) God has us all in his hands just as the song says. If you do anything today stop and make sure you do what Solomon said to do in Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;” Your own understanding can get you into trouble. How great is God — beyond our understanding!
Prayer: Father, I pray that we recognize just how great and mighty you are. I pray that we realize you gave your son as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins and gave us grace we did not deserve and mercy we should not have so we could spend eternity in your presence. I pray that we realize that you are in control and we humbly submit our understanding of your ways. Even though I don’t understand the path before me I know you are with me and you will sustain me like David said in Psalm 23, “even though I walk through the valley of shadow of death I will fear no evil because you are with me” In Jesus name, amen.
