God Sees You

Song of Songs 2:2

“Like a lily among thorns is my darling among the young women.”

Remember the story of the boy who cried wolf?  In short, a young boy is tending sheep and he starts to wonder if anyone will come to his rescue if something ever happens.  Furthermore, he wonders if anyone even cares if he is out there in the wilderness at all.  So he cries “WOLF!” and sees who will come to his rescue.  Well, the townspeople come ready to fend off the wolf but the boy tells them there is no wolf.  They all go back to the town.  This pattern plays out several times and the townspeople always come out ready to fight the wolf.  One day, a real wolf comes and is threatening the sheep so he cries “WOLF, WOLF, WOLF!!!”  No one comes to the rescue and the sheep get eaten.  The boy goes back to the town and asks why no one came.  They answer and say “you cried wolf and we came and there was no wolf.  You did this many times so we figured you were just crying wolf this last time as well.”

Many of us view God the same way.  We wonder, is He really listening to my prayers?  Does He really care that I am going through this trying time?  What have I done to deserve such bad luck? Where is God anyway?  In the verse above, God is telling his beloved children how special they are.  Like a lily among thorns he says.  In other words, he sees you in the middle of all the issues of life and sees a beautiful person.  In verse 14 of the same chapter he says, “show me your face, let me hear your voice.”  He wants us to speak to him.  He is not some tyrannical king that only lets us speak when he says to.  No, you can come to him no matter what time, no matter what situation, no matter what state of mind.  HE WANTS TO HEAR YOUR VOICE!

In verse 15 He gives us a job.  He tells us to catch the little foxes that ruin the vineyards.  While you are talking to the Lord you must root out the little sneaky things in your life that can ruin your walk with the Lord.  Just like Solomon told us in Ecclesiastes 8:8, “wickedness will not stop until you stop practicing wickedness.”

Today, realize that you are chosen and not random.  God has a special plan for you and you only!  Jesus came so you could walk with Him and never thirst again.  He alone will fill that empty place in your life. Why? Because he fashioned you and put it there.  Stop searching for the things of this world to fill that void!  Jesus is the only thing that will fill it up so you can begin to pour out to others.

Prayer: Father, help us to recognize how precious we are in your sight. John 3:16 tells us that you “so” loved the world that you sent your son to die for our sins so we could be with you in heaven for eternity. Jesus willingly chose to die for us. Wow Father that is love. Today, I pray that no matter what I go through I remember how much you love us and promise to be at our side through everything. In Jesus name, amen.
