God’s Resume

Psalm 103

If you want a job, typically, you need a resume. In high school, many of us get to write our first resume. On it, you are supposed to list qualifications you have that employers would need. These qualifications are what get you the job most of the time, the other side being personal connections and references. It is hard to fill out a resume of any length when you are just starting out. You do not have any work experience, very few qualifications, and you do not know anyone either.

I remember someone giving me my first shot at a real job after college. I had some qualifications and one connection. Thirty years later, I am still ginning out oil and prospects. Now my resume has to be abbreviated because there is no way to write down all that I have done over the years. Blessed for sure.

God has a resume, if you did not know it. It is also abbreviated because there is no way to write down all that He has done. You can find His resume mainly in the Bible. In it, you will find His living Word, described as the sword of the Spirit, the word of truth, the breath of God, and much more. What about references? Well, you will find them in church and on every corner of the earth where people lift up the name of the Lord in praise.

Psalm 103 is a short list of who God is. He wants to be your God, and His Son, Jesus, wants to be your Savior. The deal is that you have to give Him the position; He will not assume the role. If you choose for Jesus to be your Savior, you will begin to learn about Him and how your life will be affected for His Kingdom.

Below is a cross-section of the attributes of God written by David for us to write on the tablet of our hearts.

1. Forgives all your sins

    2. Heals all your diseases

    3. Redeems your life from the pit

    4. Crowns you with love and compassion

    5. Satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed

    6. Works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed

    7. Is compassionate and gracious

    8. Slow to anger

    9. Abounding in love

    10. Will not always accuse

    11. Nor harbor His anger

    12. Does not treat us as our sins deserve

    13. Or repay us according to our iniquities

    14. His love is great for those who fear Him

    15. Removes our transgressions as far as the east is from the west

    16. Has compassion on those who fear Him

    17. Establishes His throne in heaven, and His kingdom rules over all

This is the God who saved you and redeemed you from your pit. Get to know Him, give Him the role as your Savior, and you will never be the same.

    Prayer:
Father, your resume is amazing. I pray that I will not keep You from any part of my life. I give it all to You, Father, because You said in Your Word that You are the perfecter of my faith and that I will have shelter in the shadow of the Almighty. I pray and give You reign over my entire life and all that is in it, to use for Your glory, in Jesus’ name, amen.
