Does Satan Know Who You Are?

Nebuchadnezzar warned Nebuzaradan that he would risk defeat if he allowed the Jews time to repent for their evil ways. “Do not allow them to pray,” he instructed.45 “Drive them out as though they are being pursued by a lion.”46

The quote above comes from Ginei Shechter 1:273. It was a manuscript found in Egypt. According to history, Nebuchadnezzar was fearful about even invading the holy city because the Holy God was covering it with protection. He even feared suffering the same fate as Sennacherib, who was miraculously defeated many years earlier. So, he enlisted a sorcerer to help him determine whether he should invade the city and burn it down.

As I read the quote highlighted above, the Holy Spirit impressed upon me something that we should all do, pray. The awesome power of prayer is seen throughout the Bible. Even more striking is the fact that every nation around Israel knew about the Lord God. They were afraid to even entertain the thought of invading Israel. Nebuchadnezzar was sent by God to punish the Israelites for serving other gods, little “g” gods. Even the mighty Nebuchadnezzar knew of the evil ways the Israelites were practicing, how it angered their God, and how, if they only prayed and repented, the Lord would fight for them and ensure victory over all who oppressed Israel. God was known and feared not only by the Israelites but also by other nations who did not follow Him.

Does the enemy know who you are? In Acts 19:14-16 it reads:
“11 And God was doing extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul, 12 so that even handkerchiefs or aprons that had touched his skin were carried away to the sick, and their diseases left them, and the evil spirits came out of them. 13 Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists undertook to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, ‘I adjure you by the Jesus whom Paul proclaims.’ 14 Seven sons of a Jewish high priest named Sceva were doing this. 15 But the evil spirit answered them, ‘Jesus I know, and Paul I recognize, but who are you?’”

Does the enemy know you? If you have asked this question about yourself, I hope you have the right answer. The Lord God you serve is mighty and greater than any of your issues. He made the heavens and the earth. If you are so bold as to cry out to the Lord, “Where are You?” you should read Job 38:4-7.

Today, get to know the God of the universe. I wonder if the enemy is telling his demons, “Don’t let him pray!” Pray to the Lord, and when you are done, pray some more. Does the enemy know you?

Prayer: Father, help us to pray and strengthen our faith in You. I pray that my faith in You would grow every day and that I will see the salvation of my God in my life today and every day. I also pray and rebuke Satan and all his demons from my life and my family, in Jesus’ name! I serve the one true God and His Son, Jesus Christ, and at that name every knee will bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord. He lives on the inside of me, making me His holy temple, and I have all the power Jesus had, it is alive and well in my life, in Jesus’ name!
