Before They Call I Will

Isaiah 65:24

“Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear.”

For parents, having a watchful eye is not an option, but necessary.  Just think of all the times you were watching young ones and redirected them before they took the spill or touched something hot or were about to pull over something heavy that would hurt them.  Or even the times when you knew they needed something before they asked for it and you provided it to them without them asking for it.  You did these acts in love for your children or the ones you were watching.

There are plenty of “I will’s” in the Bible that come from the Lord.  In this case let us highlight the “I will” in verse 24 above.  Just like the parents or the caregivers watching young children or elderly folks, a watchful eye is always there.  We spring into action when we see they need something or to protect them.  We even start speaking to them before they finish the sentence because we understand the need and are able to provide whatever they need.

Friends, the Lord is like this.  He springs into action, answers our call before we ask and starts to speak to us before we even get finished or starting a prayer.  Hebrews 11:1 says, ” Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”  Even our faith is built upon the precept that God is before our hopes and before what we see….faith.

Getting to know the Lord means understanding the “I wills” of God.  Instead of praying that the Lord will answer your prayer, ask the Lord to show you how He is moving in that situation and ask for your ears to hear the directing the Holy Spirit.  Revelation 3:20 says, ” Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”

God is already speaking to you!  He is at the door and waiting for you to hear His voice.  You can even hear the Lord while your door is shut, just read the verse.  It is time to open the door to the Lord.  Let Him in on everything.  The only thing He asks you to do is hear His voice and open the door. Before you call, He has already answered.  Don’t you love that?  We never have to go searching for Him. We instead should maintain a posture of listening to the Lord in all that we do.

Prayer: Father, help us maintain a posture of listening to you all day long. I pray that we meditate on your Word and walk by faith and not by sight. I pray the we tune our minds to the direction of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Father for answering our call and speaking to us while we are still attempting to put into words what is on our hearts in prayer. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
