“In repentance and rest is our salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength.”
A quick word for today. I call it the Christian code, like the pirates code but spiritual and eternal. In cycling, it is called omerta. Even the Navy Seals have a code: no man left behind. I have written about this before. I will add to it little by little as the Lord gives me the code.
Salvation is explained here with a combination of two things, repentance and rest. Repentance that we need the Lord God to save us from our sins and rest in that His sacrifice on the cross was sufficient. Just like He told Paul, ‘My grace is sufficient.” Christ dying for our sins was enough! End of story. We win. Go ahead and collect $200 while you pass go. A popular Christian song says, “there ain’t no sinner that He can’t save!” I love this because it tells me that no matter how far gone you think you are, no matter how many times you screw up, no matter how far from God you are, Jesus is right there looking for you waiting for you return. You are the lost sheep He will leave the 99 to go find. (Luke 15:4) Amazing, thank you Jesus.
The second is strength. Two concepts here also, 1. quietness and 2. trust. If we trust in the Lord for our strength we need not shout or bloat up with bravado because the Bible says He will fight for us. (Exodus 14:14) Trust. This last part of the code is the hard one. It involves a continual download of the Word of God every day over a period of time to walk in trust. When God told Moses to touch the rock and water would come out, he did it without doubt or unbelief. (Exodus 17:16) Jacob would not let the angle go until he blessed him. (Genesis 32:24) Jesus went to cross to die for our sins with full assurance of the outcome because He trusted the Father. (Luke 22:42)
Today, fill your head with the code, repentance, rest, quietness and trust. Watch your salvation and strength become rooted and solid while you fall in love with Jesus every day. Every day is a choice to approach the Lord or to turn away from Him.
Prayer: Father, help us continually fall in love with you every day. Your Word says that if we love you we will gladly obey your commandments. (John 14:15) I pray today that I fall in love with Jesus and the grace of God every minute of every day. Help us ponder on the Christian code so it sinks down into our Spirit and it is written on our hearts in Jesus name, amen.
