Soaked

Isaiah 11:9

“They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be filled with knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.”

If you have ever been caught in a down pour I can assure you that you will get soaked.  In fact, all the raincoats and umbrellas still won’t keep the water out.  It seems to find a way in and soak everything you are wearing.  The last time I jumped into a pool of water every part of me was affected by the water.  Not one part was dry, not even one.

Sadly, we as Christians seem to fight getting totally soaked by the Holy Spirit.  We put on the raincoat of our understanding and wear the goulashes of our own ways marching forward struggling to keep some parts of our own life dry without Christ.  Some of us have become pros at this parade of our understanding.  We reason and figure our ways of judging life from our own understanding just to get caught in conflict with what the Lord is trying to do.

In chapter 9, Isaiah describes the Lord’s character and what goes on when He shows up.  The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the cow will feed with the bear and so on.  You see, when we let Christ in our lives, the conflict we experience from this world is upended.  Our struggles become small as Christ quiets the conflict.  Just like the water seems to soak every part of you when jump into a pool, so should Christ and his character be all over you.  Here is a prayer you can pray today and everyday.

Prayer: Father, soak me with your presence! Engulf every part of my life until all of my life is completely saturated with you.  Let not one dry, worldly thing, be left as your Spirit renews every part of your great creation.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
