His Vineyard

Isaiah 5:2

“He dug it up and cleared it of stones and planted it with choices vines, He built a watchtower in it and cut out a winepress as well.  Then he looked for a crop of good grapes, but it yielded only bad fruit.”

For those of you who have planted anything, you know that there is a process.  You have to get good potting soil and then find a pot just the right size.  Next, there is a certain way you plant it so it will grow right.  After you have planted it, there is the watering schedule that is different with every plant type.  Then comes the waiting game, days on end after you do your part and the plant, if it is taken care of, will grow and become a beautiful plant everyone can enjoy.  My wife and, at least one daughter, have the green thumb and can grow just about anything.  Me, well lets just say I need to shop for plants at Michaels.

All kidding aside, we are the choicest vines that are planted in God’s vineyard.  He has prepared everything needed for us to grow and develop in Christ.  He also has gone so far as to make it possible for us to turn into something other people would like to see and hear.  God will remove the stones in your life if you will let Him.  God will dig up those weeds in your life and throw them away preparing you for what He wants to grow in you.  He will even prepare a platform to do His will in your life.  All you have to do is submit your life to His loving hands.

Sometimes we have the privilege to watch one God’s children, who are lost, find the Lord and watch them grow into a follower of Jesus.  Talking to these people before and after their conversion to Christ reveals the growth of goodness that God puts in a person.

Today, reflect on the blessings in your life that the Lord has put there.  You are part of His vineyard and He is watching you grow.  Just like my wife and daughter will take off the bad parts of the growing plants in order for them to grow stronger, God will do the same in your life.  He will cut away those friends and connections that are bad for your life.  He will even replant you into a new circle of friends so you can flourish.  You are meant for His vineyard and nothing else.

Prayer: Father, your Word says that you are vine and we are the branches. We have been grafted in your vine when we accepted Christ. Help us to dive into the Word and let the truth of God’s Word do its mighty work in our lives. We humbly accept the pruning needed for us to grow. We humbly accept the replanting of some areas of our lives so we can flourish. We humbly look forward to your perfect will for our lives that produces good fruit. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
