“As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated.”
Sometimes in life we have to keep moving forward. If you have ever driven to a place you have never been you have to trust the map. The only thing giving you hope that you are moving in the right direction is that little map on your phone or the paper. After a while of driving to that same place you no longer need the map because the route is burned into your head.
Jehoshaphat was in a tight spot. You could say he needed some help navigating his dilemma. In chapter 20 he decides to seek the Lord and call a fast because a vast army is heading toward Judah and he knows they are greatly outnumbered. We have all heard of verse 15 in this chapter “For the battle is not yours, but God’s.” Most of us would stop there and say “great” let’s sit back and watch God take over but we would be wrong. The battle does belong to the Lord but in this case He does not move until he hears the praise and singing. As soon as the people started to sing and praise the Lord, God moved on their behalf.
You might be in this same place wondering if or when God will move in your life. You can look back and see all the time at church and reading your Bible but you still feel as if God is just not around. When does God move? He moves when you praise Him while marching forward with full faith that He will move when the time is right.
Today, move forward while praising Him. Sing your favorite Christian song or recite a favorite verse, open up the Bible promises book and read a bunch of verses dealing with your dilemma and praise God for giving you guidance and strength when you don’t have either. Don’t get backed up against a wall before you call on Him but move forward because the battle is not yours. It belongs to the Lord.
