“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”
Like anything we do, we become masters of what we spend out time on. Sophie and I were driving one night and she told me she has many different playlists for all different types of music. I thought that it must have taken a lot of time to assemble and categized those songs. She has mastered the art of playlist creation. Similarly, I have spent a lot of time studying Texas Gulf Coast Geology and I consider myself to have a lot of experience in the area of analyzing oil and gas. The amount of time I have spent on geology has resulted in a mastery of the subject.
I posted a picture on Facebook a while ago that was Jesus on the cross and the sun going down. The caption read “I did this because all lives matter!” We cannot forget to bring the message of Christ to our own mouth in response to the injustice of the world. In the same way, we can become masters of promoting what the Bible says, but we have to spend time reading it and actually doing what it says to do. After some time of walking with Jesus you begin to consider yourself a master of Christianity. Only Jesus was the one true master but he gave us the Holy Spirit to guide us in what we spend our time mastering.
Today please pray before your say or do anything. When Jesus sent the disciples out, they asked him what they will say. Jesus replied in Luke 12:11-12, “When you are brought before synagogues, rulers and authorities, do not worry about how you will defend yourselves or what you will say, for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say.” Believe the Holy Spirit will teach you what to say and do. The more you read the Bible and turn that knowledge into actions, the more mastery you will develop. Your actions are working on mastering something everyday. Each day try to develop a habit of listening, reading, and doing what we read in the Bible.
