“Then God said to Noah, “Come out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and their wives.”
After potty training four girls, I can remember that some days were easy and some were hard. The crazy thing was that you had to be ready to stop anywhere at a moment’s notice to take them to the restroom. It could be on your way to church or on your way home, anywhere. Waiting was not in the picture, it was now.
I am sure Noah and his family must have had some tense moments sitting in the ark all those lonely days and nights. It was the complete opposite of potty training. Rather than constantly having to stop at a restroom, the command from God was, “stay here until I tell you to come off the ark.” Noah sent birds multiple times to see if the water had receded. I can picture it now, Noah’s wife asking him to send out another dove and see what happens. Noah responds, “Why? It will only come back with nothing like the previous day..”
Maybe you are in the same spot. You feel stuck and complacent. There has been no big move in your life for quite some time now and you have been sending out the doves so to speak hoping to find something different. However, God has you right where He wants you even if it is stuck in that job, that place in life, and/or that season of paying off debt. Your job is to stay there until the Lord moves you.
Noah could have tried to get into a small boat and find land but He followed God and stayed in the ark until the Lord said to come out. The Lord may be telling you the same thing; to stay where you are until He tells you to move. In Noah’s case, getting out any earlier would have been bad because the ground was not dry yet. God may still be drying the ground where He wants you to go and you must wait until He says to move. The “wait until I tell you to come out” command came for many of characters in the Bible. For example, the upper room in Acts 2 when the Holy Spirit came down and filled the disciples or the parting at the Red Sea when the Israelites had to wait until the Lord parted the waters. Getting in tune with God’s voice is the only way to hear the “come out” command. Today, pray that the Lord will show you why you are in the middle of your circumstance and pray for the strength to endure the journey through it.
