“Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array.”
When I was about 10 or 11 I loved to put together models. I would go and purchase them, take them home and spend some real time putting them together. I remember taking the contents out of the box and then looking at the picture on the box and wondering how all these loose parts are supposed to look like the picture. Thankfully, I found the instructions and I would begin with step 1 and go through each step until the model looked exactly like the picture. I was finished.
By Genesis 2 the whole earth was completed, yes, completed. Not a single thing was needed. God spoke and it was, that is that. It says in verse 2 that God rested on the 7th day. I don’t think God was tired or worn out, He is God. Rather, it is a place where we read that a rest day is in order for mankind. A time to reflect on all of the accomplishments of the last 6 days. Finished! What a great word. I loved being finished with my models as a young kid because I could just sit back and gaze on what I had put together. Some of us, sadly, think that our world is not at all finished. In fact, they say the world has dealt them a losing hand. They are playing with a deck of 51 cards dealt by God and no way to win at all. It is like opening up a box of parts with no instructions. You just look at all the parts and get discouraged and disheartened. The next move is depression and complacency. You just quit. We can all relate to this at times.
Satan would like nothing more than to convince you that God has not given you everything you need. That He only has given you enough to get you excited to play His little game of Christianity but never has given you enough to be fully satisfied. What a lie! Our verse today speaks volumes, “Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array.” Jesus even uttered these same words on the cross, “It is finished.” Stop believing that God has dealt you a losing hand. He finished what He came to do and it is ready for download. Just press the link that says Jesus. He even left us an instruction manual, the Bible. It is chalk full of what the Lord did on earth and how to live our Christian lives giving glory to Him. It even gives us a blueprint for everything from money, to government, to relationships. You don’t have to look at the box of parts your life might be in right now and get discouraged thinking you can never put anything together. Read the instruction manual and begin today. Completed! I love that word. It may take some time for all the parts of your life to take shape and look like the picture, but when you begin with the Lord you are promised the end result, completed and blessed. Today, realize you are finished in Christ. Completed, blessed, walking in perfect peace. Begin with the instruction manual He left us, the Bible, and watch your box of parts become something that resembles what God created.
