It Was Good

Genesis 1:31

“God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.”

It has been said that believing that God did not make the earth and everything in it is like believing that if you put all the parts of a Porsche in one room and lock the door and come back in a year you would see a Porsche fully put together and ready to go.  Or it would be like putting a typewriter and paper in a locked room and coming back and expecting War and Peace to be typed out.  Really ridiculous if you think about it.  I have a science background so I naturally think of how everything works.  For us Christians, we need to believe in the fact that God created the Earth and all that is in it.  How foolish would it be to assume that God can save us yet not have the power to create us and the world we live in. 

I am reading a book about the providential history of America.  One chapter reveals the geography of the world and how the spread of Christianity follows geographic boundaries.  For example, we see in Acts the Holy Spirit guiding Paul to places to spread the gospel west.  Geographic boundaries were in place going east, north, and south, but west was the best way to spread the gospel so it could reach as many people as possible.  God has a plan.  He created all you see around you and He calls it good.  In fact, He said it is very good. 

Today, look at the place where the Lord has you. It is good. He is at the center of it. He is at the center of your home, your job, and your relationships. He is at the center of it all. He even calls it good. If God can create the Earth and everything in it, then He can use anything around you to further His kingdom. The Bible is full of God using His creation to capitalize on His plan. You may be thinking that all around you is only gloom and doom and darkness. God is hovering over the darkness and He has spoken light to be. God is the author of darkness and light and His ability in both is limitless. God sees you and says, “It is good!” He is there at the center of everything. Take some time to pray and ask Him to show Himself to you in whatever situation you are in.
